Phase Two at Summit Pointe is Open For Business

After nearly two years of development, 555 Belaire and the Helix Apartments are officially open at Summit Pointe! As we watch the Summit Pointe community come alive with residential, retail, and office communities alike converging along the tree-lined streets of Belaire Avenue, we invite you to join us for a recap of the events leading up to the grand opening of Phase Two development this October!
Commercial Leasing Broker Event
On October 15, an event was held for the top commercial real estate brokers in the area to experience all that Summit Pointe has to offer. Thirty-six attendees gathered on the sixth and topmost floor of 555 Belaire for a lunchtime presentation from Perry Frazer, Executive Vice President of Office Leasing for Summit Pointe Realty, LLC.
Following the lunchtime presentation, tours were conducted to give attendees a first-hand look at the unparalleled spaces that make up 555 Belaire, including dynamic Class A office space and street-front retail and restaurant space.
Those in attendance at the event included thirty local real estate brokers, Summit Pointe property managers, and the Colliers International commercial leasing team representing Summit Pointe.
Mural Unveiling at 555 Belaire
Throughout the month of October, stencil artist and muralist Mathew Curran was at work designing a remarkable mural to enhance 555 Belaire’s signature two-story atrium lobby. The mural was completed before the grand opening of 555 Belaire on October 28, 2020.
Drawing inspiration from American skateboarding culture, Curran’s work has a spontaneous and loose style with a distinctive urban street-art energy. The mural for 555 Belaire features lush, fanciful imagery that reflects on the beauty of the natural world. This one-of-a-kind installation perfectly complements the architecture, design, and energy of both 555 Belaire and the entire Summit Pointe community.
Phase Two Ribbon Cutting
On October 28, leaders from Dollar Tree, the Summit Pointe development team, and the City of Chesapeake gathered for a ribbon cutting celebration to officially open Phase Two at Summit Pointe.
Those in attendance included Executive Chairman of Dollar Tree Bob Sasser, Chesapeake Mayor Rick West, Senior Vice President of Portfolio Management of Dollar Tree Chris Williams, and Chesapeake City Manager Chris Price.
“Located adjacent to the Dollar Tree campus, we are creating a lifestyle that benefits Dollar Tree associates and the community while establishing a new commercial center in the heart of Coastal Virginia,” shared Bob Sasser. “Summit Pointe is attracting new residents, new businesses and new talent to Chesapeake’s Central Business District.”
“The vision for Summit Pointe is real,” said Mayor Rick West. “What we see before us today is unmatched in the region. Residents are experiencing an upscale lifestyle at Helix, and soon office workers and visitors will bring energy and excitement to this emerging metropolitan area. The opening of 555 Belaire today is the beginning of a new downtown for Chesapeake and a new urban destination for the 757.”

The opening of Phase Two marks the delivery of Summit Pointe’s first residential, retail, and restaurant spaces as well as the delivery of office spaces in the brand-new office tower, 555 Belaire. Summit Pointe has already welcomed its first office leasing tenant in 555 Belaire, Davis Law PLC, as well as its first restaurant tenant, Wasserhund Brewing Company.
