Topping out ceremony for phase two development at Summit Pointe

Construction at Summit Pointe is making fast progress! Phase Two of construction, which began in June 2019, is underway and progressing rapidly with completion scheduled for mid-2020.

On October 23, 2019, leaders from Dollar Tree, the Summit Pointe development team, and the City of Chesapeake gathered at the construction site for Summit Pointe’s newest office tower, 555 Belaire, for a topping out celebration.

Those who attended the event include Executive Chairman of Dollar Tree Bob Sasser, Senior Vice President of Portfolio Management of Dollar Tree Chris Williams, Corporate Counsel – Real Estate of Dollar Tree Christian Chiles, SCA Architects Partner Burrell Saunders, Chesapeake Mayor Rick West, Chesapeake City Manager James Baker, Chesapeake EDA Assistant Director Ben White, Senior Project Manager of Clancy & Theys Construction Company Chad Cowger, Vice President & CEO, Virginia Division of Clancy & Theys Construction Company Bill Goggins, SCA Architects Project Manager Andy Raffin, Colliers International Executive Vice Presidents of Office Leasing, Pat Mugler and Perry Frazer, and SCA Architects Architectural Designer Anne Partamian.

Dignitaries gathered at the event to sign a steel beam from 555 Belaire, a symbolic reminder of the effort put into this project by all of the individuals and teams involved. Dignitaries then spoke and posed for pictures at the construction site. A gallery of photos from the event can be viewed here.

Bob Sasser opened the event with remarks about the construction progress, stating, “The completion of the second office building will bring new opportunities to the Greenbrier Community as leading employers have an opportunity to locate their businesses in Summit Pointe.”

Mayor Rick West thanked the development team, saying “The opportunities that Summit Pointe is bringing to Chesapeake will benefit our citizens not only with a new destination for upscale shopping and lifestyle amenities but also with additional tax revenue and infrastructure to support our growing community.”

The first two of four blocks of Phase Two of construction at Summit Pointe will include completion of the 555 Belaire office building, which will feature six stories of Class A+ office space, and the Helix living community, which will feature 133 living units. Both developments will sit atop ground-floor retail and restaurant space and will enjoy access to unparalleled amenities and stunning views along the iconic Belaire Avenue. Construction on the first two blocks is scheduled for completion in mid-2020, with construction on the remaining blocks beginning in early-2020.
